The Apostle Peter wrote his second letter to the church because he knew his time on earth was short. He wanted to give them something to help them grow in their faith after his departure.
He was especially concerned to instruct them against the teachings of the false prophets that were threatening the downfall of their faith.
Now, nearly 2000 years later, we still read his letter and find the strength we need to overcome the lies that are arising both within and without the church. False teaching everywhere abounds, so this letter is just as relevant and timely today as when it was first penned.
This sermon series will enable us to stand firm in our faith until our Lord comes.
